Betty Jo (Gibbs) Seay, born April 6, 1930, in Houston, Texas, passed away on February 19, 2024. A beloved native Houstonian, Betty’s life was marked by love, compassion, and dedicated service. After graduating from Reagan

High School, she pursued her passion for nursing, earning a scholarshi­p from the River Oaks Friendship Club and attending Hermann Hospital’s Nursing School.

In 1953, Betty married Dale Seay, embarking on a beautiful journey that included the joys of parenthood with their daughters, Sherry and Mary. Despite facing personal tragedies, Betty found fulfillmen­t in her career in Occupation­al Nursing, making a significan­t impact at institutio­ns like USAA, Lone Star Brewery, and Pearl Brewery.

Returning to Houston in 1969, Betty continued her nursing career, eventually establishi­ng the Health Center at Geosource, Inc. Active in profession­al organizati­ons, she formed enduring friendship­s and contribute­d to health education by teaching CPR classes. Betty’s role as a grandmothe­r brought her immense joy, and she was actively involved in her community through volunteer work and her passion for the arts.

Before Dale’s passing in 2008, Betty displayed remarkable resilience while caring for him at home. In Sun City, TX, she remained dedicated to community service, participat­ing in organizati­ons such as the Daughters of the Nile and The Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Betty’s legacy of love and service lives on in her daughters, grandchild­ren, and great-granddaugh­ter. She will be remembered for her kindness and grace. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice. Though she may be gone, Betty’s spirit will forever brighten the lives of those she loved and inspired.
