Texas routed on road by Dickinson, Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Hunter Dickinson scored 20 points and KJ Adams Jr. had 16 as No. 9 Kansas beat Texas 86-67 on Saturday night.

All five Kansas starters scored in double figures as Johnny Furphy contribute­d 16, Dajuan Harris had 14 and Nicolas Timberlake scored 13.

“Games like this where we come out really good and stay even keeled are nice,” Adams said. “It’s always a good time beating my hometown team, it’s definitely fun, but hopefully we get to play them again.”

Kansas (21-6, 9-5 Big 12) separated midway through the first half with a 12-0 run to take a 28-15 lead which was highlighte­d by two jams. Furphy back behind a defender and threw it down between two Longhorns to start the run.

Two minutes later, Timberlake leaped over Dylan Disu for an alleyoop slam from Harris on a two-on-one fast break. The crowd erupted and Kansas used that momentum to distance themselves and take a 45-25 lead at halftime.

The Jayhawks outscored Texas (17-10, 6-8) 52-34 in the paint, which led to Kansas shooting 32 of 52 or 62% from the field. Texas shot 26 of 62 or 42% from the field.

Dalton Knecht scored 24 points as the host Volunteers beat the Aggies to tie Alabama for the Southeaste­rn Conference lead and give coach Rick Barnes his 800th Division I victory.

Barnes became the 14th coach to win 800 games at Division I schools. He also coached at Texas, winning 402 games in 17 seasons with the Longhorn, and spent time at George Mason, Providence and Clemson. He has 196 in nine seasons at Tennessee.

Tyrese Radford and Wade Taylor IV led Texas A&M (15-12, 6-8) with 11 points each.

CENTRAL FLORIDA 75 NO. 23 TEXAS TECH 61

Darius Johnson had 16 points and five assists and Jaylin Sellers scored 15 points as the Knights held Red Raiders scoreless for more than eight minutes in the second half en route to a victory in Orlando, Fla.

The win, keyed by a 20-3 run in the second half, was the third by Central Florida (14-12, 5-9 Big 12) over a ranked opponent at Addition Financial Arena in its first season in the Big 12.

PJ Henry scored 16 points and Jonathan Cisse added 11 points with three rebounds and a trio of assists as the Tigers picked up a road win over the Delta Devils.

Deon Stroud joined Henry and Cisse in double-figures scoring with 11 points as Texas Southern (11-14, 9-5 SWAC) won its second in a row to pull into a tie with Alcorn State for third in the conference.

Travis Evee’s 34 points led the host Owls to a win over the Pirates.

Evee also contribute­d six rebounds for Rice (11-16, 5-9 American Athletic Conference). Keanu Dawes went 6-of-8 from the field to add 14 points. Mekhi Mason had 10 points and shot 3-for-11 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

NORTHWESTE­RN STATE 86 HCU 73

Braelon Bush scored 19 points as the Demons beat the host Huskies.

Bush shot 8-for-11, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, for Northweste­rn State (9-19, 7-8 Southland Conference).

HCU (6-19, 4-10) was led in scoring by Marcus Greene, who finished with 19 points.

TCU 75, CINCINNATI 57

Reserve Jakobe Coles scored 11 of his 18 points before halftime and Emanuel Miller also scored 18 points as the Horned Frogs took control late in the first half to beat the visiting Bearcats.

TCU (19-8, 8-6 Big 12) never let Cincinnati within four points after halftime.

Caleb Love scored 28 points to eclipse 2,000 for his career as the Wildcats bounced back from their first home loss of the season with a win over the visiting Huskies.

Tamin Lipsey had 14 points and six assists to lead the Cyclones to a home win over the Mountainee­rs.

Hunter Sallis scored 29 points while Andrew Carr had a huge secondhalf performanc­e to help the Demon Deacons edge the visiting Blue Devils, earning a massive boost to their NCAA Tournament chances.

As Wake Forest fans stormed the court to celebrate, Duke star Kyle Filipowski appeared to be shaken up after a collision with a fan running by him as he walked toward the locker room tunnel. He was hobbled and had to be helped off the court amid the chaos.

Cormac Ryan scored 18 points on six 3-pointers as the Tar Heels moved into first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a victory against the host Cavaliers.
