New Louis Vuitton boot is ready to rodeo

- By Amber Elliott

There’s a new cowboy boot in town. It’s got a French accent, North Texas heritage and arrives just in time for the 2024 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Next week, Louis Vuitton’s LV Texan Boot lands at the Houston Galleria’s men’s store for a limited time. The boot is constructed from supple calf leather, with hand-stitched embroidery and “Texas” hand-painted on the shaft. At least one style has a silver toe-cap.

Originally shown in Paris in January as part of Louis Vuitton men’s creative director Pharrell Williams’ fall-winter 2024 collection, the LV Texan Boot appeared on the runway at Jardin d’Acclimatation near Fondation Louis Vuitton, where the public park was transformed by mountainous landscape imagery evoking the American West. Williams, reportedly inspired by the frontier spirit, got the rodeo wardrobe right — models wore plenty of denim, including chaps, in addition to fringe, cowhide, turquoise and bolos.

Beyoncé fans will recall the Grammy Award ceremony in February, when the Houston native dressed in a customized Louis Vuitton jacket and matching skirt from Williams’ 2024 fall-winter ready-towear collection. The look, accessorized with a Stetson hat, was immediately coined “cowboy core.”

Now, RodeoHouston guests can follow in her designer footsteps.

Despite the LV Texan Boot’s Parisian origin story, its roots are firmly planted in the Lone Star State. Louis Vuitton worked with El Paso-based Stallion Boots to develop three different iterations, which retail for $8,000. The collaboration also marks the maison’s first venture into footwear crafted at the leather good atelier of Rochambeau Ranch in Alvarado, Texas.

Don’t be fooled by the luxury brand’s logos and monograms. These are authentic cowboy boots, boasting Goodyear welted construction.

Stallion Boots have history with Paris. They were previously sold at the renowned Colette boutique, before the retailer closed its doors in December 2017. And the Stallion team, led by owner Pedro Muñoz since 1980, has produced boots for fellow high fashion houses, including Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Céline and Ralph Lauren, as well.

Should you spot a pair of LV Texan Boots at NRG Park this season, congratulations are in order. It’s their first rodeo.
