Bruce Donald Phillips, 90, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024. He was born March 17, 1933, to the late George Phillips, Sr. and Claire Louise Daus Phillips in New York City. His childhood was spent in Brooklyn and Scarsdale, New York. He graduated from Scarsdale High School. He received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Harvard University and went on to earn an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineerin­g from the Massachuse­tts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Bruce had a long and productive career in the chemical and oil & gas industry as a chemical engineer and project manager. He was also involved in research and developmen­t. He worked for Linde and Carborundu­m in Niagara Falls, New York and MW Kellogg in Houston, Texas. He retired from EDS located in Plano, Texas.

In his earlier years, Bruce was a member of the track team at Scarsdale High School and earned the nickname of “fleet-foot”. In his senior year, he broke the existing course record, placing Scarsdale High School among the top teams in the country. He joined the track team at Harvard University and excelled at cross-country running.

Bruce loved to travel and explore. His travels took him to nearly every continent. He loved to hike, camp and canoe in his earlier years. At age

62, he went on a spelunking expedition where he swam through the cavern. In his later years, he travelled the world with his wife, Diane Gannon Phillips.

Bruce Phillips is preceded in death by his father and mother George and Claire Phillips, his brother, George Phillips Jr., Janet Holzworth Phillips (wife) and son Douglas John Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Diane Gannon Phillips, daughters Susan Parmlee and Nancy Wilks, six grandchild­ren (Natalie DiChiaro, Rock Demarais II, Kristen Peterson, Megan Wilks, Sarah Wilks, and Ashley Wilks), two greatgrand­children (Seth and Evan Peterson), niece Elizabeth Bourdin and nephew John Phillips.
