Marie Agnes Canalito, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 9, 2024. Marie was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend.

Marie was born on May 31, 1927 to Calogera “Carolyn” Biondolill­o Tilotta and Antonio “Tony” Tilotta in Houston, Texas.

Marie met her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph (Joe) Canalito at a wedding when she was just 13 years old. They reconnecte­d once Joe returned from service in WWII, dating and soon marrying on July 28, 1946. They went on to have four children: Sandra, Carolyn, Peggy, and Joe Jr.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Canalito, her parents; Carolyn and Tony Tilotta, her brothers Leon, Joseph, Philip, Sam, and Jack; and sisters Rose and Josephine.

She is survived by her 4 children; Sandra McCunis, Carolyn Reed, Peggy Roberts and her husband Gary Roberts, and Joe Canalito, Jr.; grandchild­ren Gary McCunis and his wife Misty Fox, Jacquelynn (Michelle) Cox and her husband Steve Cox, Keith Matocha and his wife Laurie Matocha, Michael Reed and his wife Vanessa (Terrell) Reed, Krystal Galatian and her husband Richard Galatian and Kevin Roberts and his wife Kelli Roberts. Marie also leaves behind 22 great grandchild­ren and 3 great great grandchild­ren.

Marie was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker; she valued family above all else. She had a zest for life and could be found happily working in the garden, cooking a big Italian dinner for her loved ones, cutting a rug on the dance floor with her husband Joe, traveling around the world, attending water aerobics classes, and she never missed church on Sundays; representi­ng her unwavering faith. Her absolute favorite thing to do was be at the beach relaxing. This was her happy place and the scene of countless wonderful memories being made. Her joyous personalit­y and beautiful smile always had a way to light up any room. Marie will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Visitation will be at Earthman Funeral Directors at 8303 Katy Freeway on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4-8pm with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Resurrecti­on will be celebrated at 1pm Friday April 19, 2024 at Norte Dame Catholic Church; 7720 Boone Road. Visitation will be immediatel­y before the mass at 12-1pm. Interment to follow in the Garden Of Gethsemani at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery 3pm. 6900 Lawndale Houston, 77023.
