Mother’s Day Movies TCM, beginning at 5 a.m. MOVIES!, beginning at 11 a.m.

Happy Mother’s Day! Sit down with Mom today and enjoy several classic films with maternal themes of various types on MOVIES! and Turner Classic Movies.

TCM’s day begins with the 1948 musical Three Daring Daughters (pictured), led by Jeanette MacDonald, followed by the comedy Please Don’t Eat the Daisies (1960), starring Doris Day, David Niven and Janis Paige. After a break for a repeat of last night’s Noir Alley presentati­on in its usual spot (the film is 1949’s Follow Me Qui

etly), the mom films pick up again with So Big (1953), featuring Jane Wyman and Steve Forrest; the comedy Pocketful of Miracles (1961), with Glenn Ford and Bette Davis; the melodrama/film noir Mildred Pierce (1945), led by Best Actress Oscar winner Joan Crawford and Best Supporting Actress nominees Ann Blyth and Eve Arden; the drama Imitation of Life (1959), headlined by Lana Turner, Best Supporting Actress nominees Juanita Moore and Susan Kohner, and Sandra Dee; I Remember Mama (1948), the famed drama starring Best Actress nominee Irene Dunne, Best Supporting Actress nominees Barbara Bel Geddes and Ellen Corby, and Best Supporting Actor nominee Oscar Homolka; and the family comedy Yours, Mine and Ours (1968), led by Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball.

The MOVIES! lineup features Little Women (1949), the adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel starring Mary Astor, June Allyson, Elizabeth Taylor, Margaret O’Brien and Janet Leigh; I Remember Mama (1948);

The Trip to Bountiful (1985), led by Best Actress winner Geraldine Page; and Mildred Pierce (1945).
