Dash remain winless at home after shutout loss to Thorns
Ana Dias scored her first NWSL goal and Olivia Moultrie added another as the Portland Thorns continued their dominance Friday night with a 2-0 win against the Dash at Shell Energy Stadium.
Portland (6-5-1), is one win shy of tying the league record for consecutive victories after completing the two-game season sweep of the Dash (2-5-3).
“To get three points against a team that has now won six consecutive, a team that is in incredible form, we have to be 100%, we have to be at our best level,” Dash coach Fran Alonso said. “We started very well, we knew that the game was there, that we could win it.”
The Dash had a trio of chances to open the scoring at the beginning of the second half, but Diana Ordóñez hit the right post with a leftfooted shot from the right side of the box before Avery Patterson and Ramona Bachmann, who led the Dash with four chances created, got in on the action.
“They gave everything,” Alonso said. “They tried, but we didn't get there, and well, the positive thing for me was the team's attitude. We created chances against a very good team.”
