National women’s council recognizes Katy-area entrepreneur
Six years ago, single Katy mom, Angelica Garcia leveraged $50,000 in savings and a $500 credit card to create AIM Global Logistics, LLC.
In 2015, AIM Global Logistics has grown into a global family that brings in more than $20 million annually. In March Garcia received the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council’s Women’s Business Star at its Salute to Women’s Business Enterprise Gala.
Led by Garcia, AIM Global Logistics instituted a new approach to the transportation industry, becoming a one-stop shop for all transportation needs in a myriad of industries.
“Angelica Garcia is an exceptional leader who is forging new ways to deliver value to her customers and her community,” said April Day, WBEA-Texas, president/CEO. “She illustrates the powerful contributions that women’s businesses make to the economic growth of this community and nation.”

Since its inception, the organization has doubled its membership, established scholarships and developed mentoring programs.

According to the Eye Level Learning website, www.myeyelevel.com, the Eye Level learning idea began when a teacher kneeled down to look at a picture.
“A man was appreciating the art at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC. As he approached each painting he would kneel down and look up at it. A curious visitor asked him why he was looking at the paintings from his knees. He replied, ‘I am an elementary school teacher and I will bring my students here tomorrow. I was wondering how my students would enjoy the paintings from a student’s eye level.”
Eye Level focuses on building each student’s foundation in math and English, as well as helping students gain self-confidence, increase interest in learning, and develop critical thinking and analytical skills.
