Harmon Edward Martin, Jr., of Houston, Texas passed away at North Cypress Medical Center on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10:38 am. Harmon was surrounded by his wife of 49 years, Virginia, and his loving children, Rachel, Rhonda, Angela and Eric as well as his adored granddaugh­ter, Marie. Harmon was born in Paris, Texas on December 3, 1942. His parents eventually settled in Houston. Preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Nina Martin; maternal and paternal grandparen­ts; his uncles, aunts and several cousins. Harmon is survived by his wife, Virginia Wagner Martin; daughters, Rachel Tilford and husband, Michael; Rhonda Pangarakis Pulido and husband, Xavier; Angela Martin; son, Eric Edward Martin. Two sisters; Melba McIntire and husband, Mason; Anna Lou Winn and husband, Arvel (Deceased). Grandchild­ren: Marie Newson and husband, David; Douglas Pangarakis; Bianca Pulido; Paige Tilford. He loved his great-grandchild­ren with all his heart: Brylee Newsom, Tobie Newsom, Tenly Newsom, Eric Duane Pangarakis; Ava Grace Lunn. His mother-in-law, Alice Wagner; brother-inlaw, John Allen Wagner and wife, Sylvia; brother-in-law, Dennis Wagner; sister-inlaw, Gail Wagner and several nieces and nephews. Harmon loved two very special little dogs, Paco and Pippa whom he called his “granddogs” also his loyal employee of almost 25 years, Guillermo Garcia. Harmon was a master mechanic. He is the owner of Martin’s Automotive Transmissi­on Service which he started over 35 years ago. Dad enjoyed NASCAR, going to the country and fishing. As we were growing up, Dad was a faithful volunteer at the Catholic schools we attended and in many functions in the parishes. Harmon donated his eyes so two people would be able to see. Our gratitude goes out to Dr. Mobeen Mazhar and Dr. Deleep Pupella plus all the doctors who tried so desperatel­y to heal Dad. The ICU nurses at North Cypress are angels. The love and support they gave Harmon and our family was boundless.

Visitation will be at Brookside Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 5 pm to 9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be at St. John Neumann Catholic Church (Nelda Road) on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:00 am. Pallbearer­s will be Michael Tilford, Xavier Pulido, David Newsom, Billy Jordan, Guillermo Garcia and Guillerom Garcia, Jr.

Dad, our hearts are broken. We will miss you every day of our lives. Thank you for being the most wonderful and caring father anyone can have.
