Patrick Cyril Marrero, Sr. was born in Austin, TX on March 15, 1935, and adopted by Louis and Myrtle Marrero in 1937. He was raised in Denver Harbor. Pat died in Home Hospice in Houston, TX on July 4, 2015. He graduated from St. Thomas High School, class of ’53, and from UH in 1962 with a degree in Health, Safety and PE. He was a football coach at H.I.S.D and later sold insurance. He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve for eight years, Knights of Columbus, and Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, Alpha Mu Chapter, at UH. He coached for many years in the Sharpstown Little League Program and the Sharpstown Tigers Team with F.U.N Football, both at Bayland Park. He was a volunteer marshall at the Shell Houston Open Annual Golf Tournament. He volunteere­d at the Harris County Precinct 3 Jim and Joann Fontino Sr. Education Center.

He is predecease­d by his mother, Myrtle Collins Marrero, his father, Louis William Marrero and his sister, Pauline Asher. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Cavanaugh Marrero, his children, Patrick Jr., Michael, and Monica Lankford and Winston, his grandchild­ren, Amanda, Patrick III and Christophe­r, sister-in-law, Clara Farr, brothers-in-law Walter Cavanaugh and Barbara, and Louis Cavanaugh and Judy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Altus Hospice and staff for their compassion­ate care of Pat, especially his nurses Jan and Samira and aides Sonya, Shantia and LaTonya.

Visitation will be at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in the Colonial Chapel on Thursday 5-9 with a Rosary at 7:00. Private family funeral service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale’s Chapel of Angels at 11:00 am Friday. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to St. Thomas High School or Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
