Celebrate Bastille Day with French flair

Anyone want to mark the anniversar­y of the start of the French Revolution? Oui, we do.

• Let them eat cake, or at least a tart. That’s the decree from La Madeleine Country French Café, which is giving away free mini Liberté Tart to its customers on Tuesday. The puff pastry tart is topped with blueberrie­s, whipped cream and raspberrie­s to represent the French flag. Find the nearest store at lamadelein­e.com.

Pei Wei wants to reward customers

After testing in Dallas/ Fort Worth, Pei Wei has launched a customer loyalty program nationwide. Participan­ts get 500 points for enrolling online at peiwei.com and then will receive 10 points for every $1 spent at the fast-casual Pan Asian chain. Customers will receive a free entree with every 1,000 My Wei Rewards points accumulate­d.

What makes this program more convenient than most is that members just give their phone numbers at the register to earn points. Membership also will include invitation­s to tastings and exclusive events.

There are 14 Pei Wei locations in the greater Houston area.
