DERBY FIELD ANNOUNCED

The Reds’ Todd Frazier is paired with two-time champion Prince Fielder of Texas in the first round of Monday’s All-Star Home Run Derby in Cincinnati.

In this year’s new format, Cubs rookie Kris Bryant is in a pairing with the Angels’ Albert Pujols, the Blue Jays’ Josh Donaldson is in a bracket with the Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo, and Dodgers rookie Joc Pederson takes on Baltimore’s Manny Machado.

The Frazier-Fielder winner faces Donaldson or Rizzo, and the Bryant Pujols winner goes against Pederson or Machado.

Brackets were based on season home run totals through Tuesday.

Each batter gets five minutes per round, and home runs in each batter’s final minute stop the clock. Players can earn up to 1 minute, 30 seconds of bonus time based on home run distance.

REDS-NATS POSTPONED

Wednesday’s game between the Cincinnati Reds and host Washington Nationals was postponed because of rain. The game was called about 15 minutes before it was supposed to begin.

No makeup date was immediately announced. This was the last scheduled game between the teams this season.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS

All-Star left fielder Alex Gordon left Wednesday’s game against Tampa Bay with a strained left groin after taking an awkward step near the wall.

Gordon was racing back on Logan Forsythe’s fly ball in the fourth inning when his left leg twisted gruesomely near the warning track. He collapsed to the ground and lay there as Forsythe rounded the bases for an inside-thepark homer.
