Workshop details benefits of rainwater
The Galveston Bay Foundation will conduct a rain barrel workshop at 9:30 a.m. July 18 at Friendswood City Hall, 910 S. Friendswood Drive.
Attendees will learn about the benefits of collecting rainwater as well as how to install and maintain a rain barrel.
“Many people don’t realize that during the summer, watering the yard and garden can be 40 percent of the total water use at a home. By learning to capture rainwater around your home, you can not only save money on your water bill, but also have water for your lawn or garden during times of drought-induced water restrictions,” said Cathy Gray, storm water coordinator for the city of Friendswood.
“Registration is $30 for two people and includes a 35-gallon rain barrel and connector kit. Visit www.galvbay.org/ rainbarrel for details.
