Pearland expands course offerings
The city of Pearland is adding beginning birding classes to its outdoor recreation course offerings in the fall. Free workshops about the classes are set for 2 p.m. July 14 and Aug. 11 at the Pearland Westside Library, 2803 Business Center Drive. Town hall meeting
District 29 Texas Rep. Ed Thompson, R-Pearland, will host a town hall meeting to discuss the 84th Legislative Session from 6-7 p.m. Monday, July 13, at the Alvin Train Depot, 200 Depot Centre Blvd., Alvin. Call 281-485-6565.
Airport system update
Perry J. Miller, general manager, William P. Hobby Airport, will be the featured speaker at the July 14 membership meeting of the AlvinManvel Area Chamber of Commerce at the Nolan Ryan Center, 1400 Texas 6, Alvin. Join a CERT team
Alvin will host a Community Emergency Response Team course starting July 14, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Learn disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the area and be trained in basic disaster response skills. CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace when professional responders are not immediately available. Free classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays July 14-Aug. 6.
