1924-2015

-

Today we want to share a “better than average story” about an amazing man. Billy R. Snead (Bill), 91, of Magnolia and formerly of Baytown, Texas passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois Snead of Tomball, Texas, who was his best friend, helper, and partner, a daughter, Stefanni Lynch of Tomball, a daughter of the heart, Kelli Mahoney Moore of LaPorte, Texas, three granddaughters, Laura Warner, Lindsay Mast, and Samantha Bush, seven great grandchildren, West, Lilibeth, and Jack Warner, Walker, Major, and Gunner Mast, and Brooke Burns . Also surviving him and honoring his memory are his son-in-law, John Lynch, and his two grandsons-in-law, Klint Warner and Mark Mast. His brother, Robert Snead of Atlanta, Georgia also survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Bill was born in Methvin, Louisiana and grew up as a farm boy during the Great Depression. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the Army Air Corps, 381st Division, stationed in England during World War II. He was a schoolteacher by profession, mentoring many students, both in and out of school. After retirement, he was a volunteer, helping out everywhere he could. He began a food pantry ministry at his beloved church home, Missouri Street Church of Christ. He helped raise funds each year for the local Habitat for Humanity by selling and delivering thousands of poinsettias. If someone needed help, they knew to call Bill Snead. He would find a way to do what needed to be done for those in need.

Bill was a faithful servant; having received God’s grace, he shared God’s grace. He loved his family and was always there to help them. Many friends and relatives have great stories to tell about him. As his wife, Lois, liked to say, “When God made Bill, he broke the mold!” His legacy will help us all remember that Christ asked us to do things “for the least of these”. He was a champion, a brave man, and a forgiven child of God.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Magnolia Funeral Home, 811 S Magnolia, Magnolia, Texas, 77355. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the Funeral Service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the adjacent Magnolia Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Missouri Street Church of Christ Food Pantry, where Bill served for over thirty years.
