Rangers hammer Mariners

ARLINGTON — Derek Holland won in his return from the disabled list, and Texas hit three consecutiv­e home runs in the seventh inning as the Texas Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners 7-2 on Wednesday. Mitch Moreland and Elvis Andrus each had three RBIs and hit homers that sandwiched Mike Napoli’s 446-foot blast to center.

ROYALS 4, REDS 3: Lorenzo Cain had a tiebreakin­g RBI single in the second inning, and Ben Zobrist had four hits as Kansas City won at Cincinnati.

CARDINALS 4, GIANTS 3: Yadier Molina’s 100th career home run in the bottom of the eighth inning snapped a tie as St. Louis beat San Francisco.

ORIOLES 5, METS 4: Henry Urrutia broke a ninth-inning tie with his first major league home run, and Baltimore ended a nine-game losing streak against visiting New York.

PIRATES 4, DIAMONDBAC­KS 1: J.A. Happ allowed two hits in six shutout innings, and Pittsburgh made quick work of visiting Arizona.

NATIONALS 4, ROCKIES 1: In Denver, Stephen Strasburg pitched seven strong innings, Jayson Werth hit a tiebreakin­g triple in the eighth, and Washington rallied to beat Colorado.

TIGERS 15, CUBS 8: Nick Castellano­s hit two home runs, one a grand slam, and visiting Detroit pounded Jon Lester.

PHILLIES 7, BLUE JAYS 4: Rookie Aaron Altherr homered, doubled and drove in three runs, and Adam Morgan pitched seven fine innings to lead Philadelph­ia over visiting Toronto.

RED SOX 6, INDIANS 4: David Ortiz hit his 492nd career homer, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Ryan Hanigan connected on consecutiv­e pitches, and Joe Kelly went six strong innings to lead Boston over Cleveland at Fenway Park.

PADRES 3, BRAVES 2: Yangervis Solarte drove in two runs, and Tyson Ross pitched six solid innings as San Diego beat visiting Atlanta to complete a three-game sweep.

A’S 5, DODGERS 2: Jesse Chavez struck out six over eight innings on a career-high 116 pitches to win for just the second time in six starts as Oakland beat visiting Los Angeles.

BREWERS 8, MARLINS 7: Ryan Braun became the Brewers’ all-time home run leader with his 252nd to help host Milwaukee avoid a sweep.

YANKEES 4, TWINS 3: At Yankee Stadium, rookie Greg Bird homered twice, leading New York over Minnesota.
