Two from Texas sue IRS over data breach
Two Texas women have sued the Internal Revenue Service in Washington over a data breach.
Becky Welborn of Dripping Springs and Wendy Windrich of Conroe are seeking to represent anyone whose information was stolen after using the IRS “Get Transcript” service that allow taxpayers to get information on their own filings. They’re also asking for unspecified money damages.
The agency announced the incursion in May. The agency recently revised its estimate of the number of people affected to 330,000.
It declined to comment on the lawsuit.
