LOS ANGELES DODGERS

Major league ERA leader Zack Greinke was scratched from his start against Arizona on Wednesday night due to soreness in his calf.

The Dodgers say Greinke is expected to take his next turn in the rotation early next week.

The righthander is 18-3 with a 1.65 ERA this season, making him a top candidate for the NL Cy Young Award. Greinke has victories in five consecutive starts and 13 of 15 since late June.

The decision to skip a start could prevent Greinke from winning 20 games for the first time in his career. It’s unclear whether Greinke would make two more starts this season with the NL West-leading Dodgers almost certainly heading to the playoffs in early October. Los Angeles had lost four straight since Greinke’s last start.

PITTSBURGH PIRATES

Third baseman Aramis Ramirez was kept out of the lineup for precautionary reasons Wednesday night against Colorado after he tweaked his left groin while running the bases the night before.

Ramirez had an RBI triple in the fourth inning Tuesday, then played in the field the next two innings before exiting. He said Wednesday he learned a valuable lesson:

“No more triples,” he said. “I’m going to stop at second from now on. Speed is not part of my game.”

It was Ramirez’s first triple of the season.

SAN DIEGO PADRES

Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Enberg says 2016 will be his final season as the primary play-byplay television voice of the team. He has been with the Padres since 2010.

Enberg received the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award this summer. He also has received the Rozelle Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Gowdy Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Famed for his exclamation of “Oh my!” Enberg has been calling major league games in Southern California for nearly 20 seasons, split by stints as one of the most recognizable voices on NBC and CBS.
