Ms. Georgea Christopher Pappas Weds Mr. Hayden Griffin Haby III
Ms. Georgea Christopher Pappas and Mr. Hayden Griffin Haby III were united in marriage and Saturday, February 7, 2015, at half past four o’clock on the afternoon at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Houston, Texas. The double-ring, traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony was officiated by The Most Reverend Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver, Reverend Father Michael Lambakis, Reverend John Hayden Haby, father of the Groom, Reverend Father Demitri Tagaropulos, and Reverend Deacon Mark Pakes. The Epistle was read by Mrs Amanda Kouvelis Kaim with Chanter Mrs Argo Georgandis Pyle. Music for the ceremony was provided by the Divisi Strings. Following the ceremony, dinner and dancing took place on the grounds of the cathedral, transformed by Rob Smith of Events In Bloom and Jennifer Hobson Kaldis with Keely Thorne Events. Entertainment was provided by Simply Irresistible and Kefi. On the Eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted the Rehearsal Dinner at Maxim’s Banquet Room.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher James Pappas of Houston. She is the granddaughter of General and Mrs. Mike P Cokinos of Beaumont and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Harris Pappas of Houston. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Griffin Haby, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Tx. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Georgean Kouvelis and the late Mr. Chris Pete Kouvelis, Sr. of Dallas, Tx and Mrs. Doris Haby and the late Mr. Hayden Griffin Haby, Sr. of Uvalde, Tx.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was escorted by her father. Serving as her matron of honor was Mrs. Katina Pappas Dermatas, the bride’s sister. Her maid of honor was Ms. Victoria Christopher Pappas, the bride’s sister. Flower girls included Miss Dimitra Evelyn Spiliotis, godchild of the bride, and Miss Chloe Kay Cokinos, cousin of the bride.
Serving as koumbaros to the couple was Mr. Michael Christopher Pappas and Mr. James Christopher Pappas, brothers of the bride. Serving as best man was, childhood friend of Griffin, Mr. Scott Barnes of Granbury, Tx. Master George Nickolas Spiliotis, cousin of the bride, served as ring bearer.
Georgea is a graduate from The Kinkaid School. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Architectural History; at UVA she also served as Vice President of Kappa Alpha Theta. Georgea received a Grand Diploma in Culinary Arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York City. She is now working on the Culinary Research and Development Chef Team for Pappas Restaurants.
Griffin is a graduate of Granbury High School. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and a Certificate in Energy Commerce; at Texas Tech he was a member of Sigma Chi, where he served on the Inter Fraternity Council. Griffin then went on to receive his Certificate in Ranch Management from Texas Christian University. Griffin is President of Venetian Royalty LLC, brokering oil and gas minerals.
