Gloomy picture

Regarding “Poll: Republican voters see Trump as most electable” (Page A2, Monday), it is because of the missteps of the Republican Party that the party is on the verge of nominating someone who is essentially a member of the idle rich who is running for president as a hobby.

If the Republicans nominate Trump, they will virtually assure the election of Hillary Clinton. Democrats, Independents; rational Republicans; moderate voters of every stripe, African-Americans, Hispanics, other non-whites; women and the young will band together in the general election, which may be one of the most lopsided in history.
