Kingwood Heartbeat Bears group gives comfort to kids

-

Kingwood Heartbeat Bears, a den of Good Bears of the World International, is a dedicated to providing teddy bears to children of all ages who are hurt, seriously ill, lonely, or just need a hug. The group also gives bears to lonely, forgotten adults. Since 1990, the Kingwood Heartbeat Bears has donated 64,000 bears. The goal is to provide at least 2,000 bears per year. The only source of income is from private donations and from various fund-raising projects. At the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Fall Festival on Oct. 17, $10 raffle tickets for prizes were offered, each of which provided a teddy bear for the club’s distribution. Above are volunteers from the festival, at the Heartbeat Bear Booth, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Members sponsored the booth at the festival, where children enjoyed the attention of a bigger-than-life bear, which danced and hugged young festival attendees. Inside the bear suit was Kay Caffey, Hi Neighbor member and active Heartbeat Bears volunteer. To donate, send a check to Kingwood Heartbeat Bears, P.O. Box 5465, Kingwood, 77325-5465. You will be providing needed bears to traumatized children and forgotten elderly.
