Trick or treat on the prairie

Looking for a “wild” trick-or-treating opportunit­y for the family this Halloween? Check out the Katy Prairie. An evening of adventure on Halloween awaits as guests collect treats and learn about spooky nighttime animals that inhabit the prairie.

The Katy Prairie Conservanc­y presents the sights and sounds of the prairie after dark with the Oct. 31 program “Unplugged Adventure: Not So Scary Prairie,” which will provide entertainm­ent for all ages. The event is from 5-8 p.m. at the Indiangras­s Preserve on the Katy Prairie. Cost is $5 per person. Advance registrati­on is required.

Suggested items to bring/wear include water, long pants and shirt, closetoed shoes, bug repellant and a hat. Binoculars and a camera can also make class more engaging. Indiangras­s Preserve is located at 31950 Hebert Road in Waller, and directions are on the KPC website, www. katyprairi­e.org.
