Betty Zumwalt

1926-2015

Betty Jean Zumwalt Betty Zumwalt passed away on October 26, 2015. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 19, 1926. She was preceded in death by Bob, her beloved husband of 66 years and is survived by her two daughters, Janet Lair and Beverly Roberts; two sonsin-law, Paul Lair and Charles Roberts; granddaughter Kelly Lair; and grandson Cameron Lair and his wife, Anna.

Betty was both an accomplished professional and a dedicated volunteer in the community and church. She discovered a talent and passion for market research at the Gelb Consulting Group, where she worked in several roles, retiring as Vice President of Field Operations. Her community service included an active role in the Bellaire Pilot Club, a volunteer service organization for business and professional women. She was also an active member of the Community Club at Prosperity Bank of Bellaire. She and Bob traveled extensively with the Club and enjoyed many social activities with the group. Betty and Bob were also long-time members of the Bellaire Methodist Church. They were charter members of the Gibson Sunday school class, where Betty was a teacher and Bob led the singing.

Betty loved ballroom dancing. She and Bob took dance lessons for more than 30 years with a special group of friends. They were members of The Lords and Ladies Dance Club, The Quadrille Dance Club and danced at The Houston Club and The Petroleum Club on most Friday nights.

The family would like to extend special thanks to caregivers Linda, Susan, Reyna, and Connie for their compassion, friendship, and skilled assistance.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday October 30, 2015 with a Celebration of Betty’s Life commencing at 11:00 a.m., at Bellaire United Methodist Church, located at 4417 Bellaire Blvd, Bellaire, Texas. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bellaire United Methodist Church.
