FC Dallas makes Western finals

Walker Zimmerman forced extra time with a goal in the 91st minute and scored the clincher on a penalty kick to help topseeded FC Dallas reach the MLS Cup Western Conference finals with a victory over the Seattle Sounders at Frisco.

FC Dallas won 4-2 on penalty kicks after three lead-changing goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation time and 30 scoreless minutes of extra time. In other games: • Bradley WrightPhil­lips scored two minutes into second-half injury time, and the New York Red Bulls beat D.C. United 1-0 at Harrison, N.Y., to advance to the Eastern Conference finals. New York, which won the first leg of the two-game series 1-0 last week at Washington, advanced on aggregate goals 2-0.

• Kei Kamara scored his second goal in the 111th minute to lift Columbus past visiting Montreal and into the Eastern Conference finals after they split the two legs 3-3.
