Happiness, gratitude lead to better health at Parkway Place

-

Several studies are showing that as people age, they become more grateful for the journey they’ve been on in life. And, the surprising thing is that gratefulness often creates a perspective that allows for forgiveness.

Research has shown that people who think about the past in an optimistic way have an increased capacity for happiness. And, that happiness often leads to better physical and mental health.

Residents of Parkway Place in Houston have access to discussion groups and neighbors with whom they can share the past, as well as a full-time chaplain. They also enjoy a wide spectrum of wellness programs, chef-prepared healthy (and yummy) meals, a dedicated professional staff and beautiful surroundings.

Living in a community where the worries of home maintenance and everyday chores are eliminated allows for time to travel, enjoy lifelong learning, workshops, activities and general well-being.

The Men’s Group Initiative recently opened a new men’s workshop to offer residents more opportunities to spend time and work together. Many of the tools have been donated by the men from their own collections.

A full continuum of health care, lovely apartment homes and an attitude of friendliness and belonging allow residents to fully appreciate the present, celebrate the past, and find gratitude for each and every day.
