Mark Jason Morris PhD

-

1982-2015

Dr. Mark Jason Morris, 33, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in his Houston home. He was a graduate of Strongsville High School, Schenectady County Community College (A.S. in Science), Union College (B.S. in Chemistry), SUNY at Buffalo (M.S. in Chemistry) and Kent State University (PH.D. in Biochemistry). Mark was a senior scientist at Base Pair Biotechnologies; a job he both loved and excelled at.

Mark had an infectious love of biochemistry, particularly for the love of his life- the mRNA-quadraplex. He was an exceptionally talented scientist with an unequaled work ethic. He had a sometimes dry, sarcastic and quirky sense of humor but he loved making those around him laugh. He loved to enjoy a beer and a good, fat steak with friends. Mark was selective of his friendships but with those that he was close with, they had a friend for life. He was kind and tender hearted to those he cared for and to felines of all shapes and sizes. He was a character and utterly unique. Mark had a deep and unbreakable bond with his Salami, Beeda and T-Tee. Mark was the beloved baby boy who went out in the world to make something of himself. To know Mark was to love him. The world will be a little less special place without Mark Morris in it.

Mark will be missed by all who knew him. Mark is survived by his mother ( Marilyn Argenio of Scotia, NY), brother ( Stephen Morris Jr. of Scotia, NY ), sister (Brenda Morris of Ballston Lake, NY), aunt and uncle (Pamela and Robert Lacy of Scotia, NY ), additional family members and friends too many to count. Services will be held at Glenville Funeral Home in Glenville, NY on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 9am-11am. Burial will be at St. Anthony’s cemetery in Glenville, NY. Glenvillefuneralhome.com
