Geico’s Katy office named a top workplace for the year 2015

Just 18 months after opening, Geico’s office in Katy, has been awarded a 2015 Top Workplaces honor by the Houston Chronicle. Geico opened its Katy office in 2014 with a workforce of 360 people to support claims operations around the country. It now employs some 600 associates and plans to double its staff in the next few years.

Geico was highlighted for its opportunity for advancement, pay benefits, workplace flexibility, communication and opportunities for management development.

Geico has a longtime connection to the Lone Star State. The company was founded by Leo and Lillian Goodwin in Texas in 1936 to provide auto insurance for federal employees and members of the military. Geico has maintained a regional office in Dallas since 1986 and has more than 2,200 associates supporting the regional operation there.

The monthly Katy Business Association/C3 networking lunch is an open group event that gives attendees the opportunity to meet twice as many business leaders to promote their businesses.

Slim Chickens Restaurant opens

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, Slim Chickens Restaurant officially opened. The restaurant is located at 23320 Mercantile Parkway in Katy.

Slim Chickens Restaurant describes itself as a down-home Southern brand that offers diners lightly hand-breaded or grilled chicken tenders or buffalo wings.
