JEAN FERGUSON EDENS MINOR

Jean Minor passed away Thursday, the 11th of February 2016. She was born the 28th of August 1925, to William Booker and Miriam Morrow Ferguson in Houston, Texas. Jean attended River Oaks Elementary School, Sidney Lanier Middle School, Mirabeau B. Lamar High School, and graduated from The Hockaday School. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1946 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and The Hockaday Club.

Jean was a much beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmothe­r, always on the glass half full side of life whatever would lie ahead. As families are sometimes known to run off in different directions, Jean was resolute in her mission to keep us engaged. After her husband Bannie died in 1983, Jean reconnecte­d with their friend and his fraternity brother, Max Minor. They were married in 1985 in Sterling City, Texas, eventually moved to Austin and embarked on a wonderful life of travels and UT football games. Jean and Max loved spending time with their blended families. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and The Junior League of Houston.

Jean was predecease­d by her parents, stepmother, Gladys Lindley Hutcheson, husband, Hugh Bannister Edens, husband, John Max Minor, son, Robert Bannister Edens, daughter-in-law Lynsey Green Edens and stepgrandd­aughter, Jamie Minor. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Tommy Proctor, stepchildr­en, Jerry and Bess Minor, Molly Minor, James and Pam Minor, grandchild­ren, Mary Elizabeth (Emmie) Proctor, Ashley and Pepper Edens, Alison and Darryl Robinson, R. T. and Leslie Mackie, Leigh and Mitchel Jeter, great grandchild­ren Will, Avery and Peyton Edens, Lynsey and Lane Robinson, Cameron, Carson, Thomas and Gillian Mackie: step-grandchild­ren, Kaylan and Max Minor, Skye Minor, and Mike Minor. She is also survived by her niece Margaret Foster (the late William Foster), their children, Melissa Fetter and William Foster and their children.

The family would like to thank Mary Hodge, who along with Marie Brown, Joanne Johnson, and Emily Charles, lovingly cared for Jean these past years, as well as Madeline Goldsmith and her staff at the Forum-Memorial Woods.

A private graveside service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock on Saturday, the 20th of February, at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Avenue, where Dr. Linda Christians, Executive Pastor, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, is to officiate. Immediatel­y following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at halfpast noon at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory may be directed to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77027.
