LESLIE MASCORROSCHLAK

1975-2016

-

Leslie Mascorro-Schlak passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Born in Houston, TX on December 19, 1975 to Mark Mascorro and Joan Gelfond, she grew up in Liberty, TX forming some of her best friendships. She moved to Houston, TX and graduated Sharpstown High School after which she served as a Military Policeman in South Korea with the United States Army. After leaving the service, she graduated magna cum laude from University of Houston-Downtown as the Distinguished Business School Graduate, member of Phi Kappa Phi, with a Bachelors in Business Administration. She then went on to manage Walgreen’s stores, become a full-time housewife, and had just started a career in real estate management.

People instantly recognized her sincerity and boldness. Her friends and acquaintances drew happiness and strength from her untiring compassion; open heart; and unguarded, infectious laughter. She fiercely protected those she loved and tried her hardest to live by a code that demanded honesty, accountability, and justice.

Leslie is survived by her husband Curtis and their children Gabrielle and Isaac; her mother, Joan Gelfond; her father, Mark Mascorro and his wife, Vicki; her brother, Patric Mascorro and his wife, Jeanna, and their children, Bobby and Julie; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

On Friday, February 19, 2016, Congregation Beth Israel, located at 5600 North Braeswood Blvd, Houston, TX will host a memorial service in its Gordon Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Humane Society of the United States, Dept: Memorial Donations, 2100 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037.
