Vicki L. Hopwood, 53, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Houston Hospice. She was born February 10, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Vicki earned her B.S. degree in Biology from the Central Missouri State University, Warrensbur­y, MO in 1984. She had completed her M.S. degree in Genetics at the University of Texas, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Houston, TX in 1988. Vicki was employed by the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center for 31 years. She started her career at the department of Cell Biology as a research assistant and was an instructor, assistant professor, program director for 20 years. Vicki was a Cytogeneti­c Specialist certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Vicki was a member of Review Committee on Accredited Programs (RCAP) of the National Accreditin­g Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). She was a reviewer and site visitor for NAACLS. Vicki received numerous honors and awards from MD Anderson as well as national profession­al associatio­ns.

Vicki will be sadly missed by husband, Larry Clark, parents, colleagues, and students.
