LEREA JUNE YOUNG WILLIAMS

Passed away peacefully on January 30, 2016. She was born on June 21, 1918 in Medaryvill­e, Indiana. She was the eldest of four children of Lloyd L. and Vera Guild Young. After graduation from Purdue University in Home Economics-Dietetics, she married Donald A. Williams of Waukegan, Illinois on June 12, 1940.

June and Don moved several times as the trained as an Artillery Man in the U.S. army. After World War II, they settled in Winthrip Harbor, Il; Indianapol­is, Ind; Anchorage, Ky; and Houston, Tx for 54 years. She joined the family at Longhorn Village in Austin, Texas on her anniversar­y in 2010.

June was a baker, ice cream maker, homemaker, seamstress, gardener, game player, widow of 30 years, and volunteer at school libraries, Girl Scouts, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, delivering mail on Thursdays for 40 years and helping with the Blood Drives. She liked to exercise and was a walker, the Westbury bicycle rider, and learned to drive at 65.

She was proud, frugal, determined, assertive, orderly, polite, enjoyed a good laugh and kept a smile on her face, because it looked better than a frown.

June was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, younger daughter Joanne Williams, brothers Charles Young and John Young. She is survived by her youngest brother Ralph and wife Joan Young; sisterin-law Connie Williams; daughter Dorothy Anne and husband Harold Wayne Whittingto­n; three grandsons David Michael and wife Deborah Ann, Stephen Todd, Matthew Wayne and wife Karla Wright Whittingto­n; great-grandchild­ren Kristen Whittingto­n and husband Robert Merrill Taylor, Ryan Michael, Jaqueline Kate, Griffin Luke, Deborah Kaye, Nicholas Wayne, Rylee Elissa, Lainey Diane Whittingto­n.
