Real challenges?
Apparently not content with changing school mascots, the HISD now is taking on school names. What an embarrassment for the city of Houston that its school board is wasting time, effort and money with this manufactured problem, while student reading rates mostly declined. Even after 90 percent of the students at Lanier voted to keep their school name, HISD marches on.
I can only discern that the school board members are focusing on changing school names and mascots because they are afraid of dealing with some of the districts’ real problems.
