Humble ISD kindergarten classes to change times

Humble ISD kindergarten classes will be 8 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. next year. This school year, kindergarten classes conclude at 1:50 p.m. The new hours will take effect in August with the start of the 2016-17 school year. The longer school day is required by a change in state law. House Bill 2610, passed by the Texas Legislature in 2015, specifies the minimum number of minutes in a school day and year. These requirements will be enforced by the Texas Education Agency in 2016-17. The change will benefit kindergarten students by providing them additional time for learning at school and parents will be able to pick up all their elementary pupils at the same time.
