Conference focuses on outlook for local economy
Business leaders, economic boosters, politicians and economists will speak during The Woodlands Area Economic Outlook Conference from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 26 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. Tickets are $175 or $145 for members of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. In previous years, the event has sold out.
This year’s keynote speaker is Greg Brenneman, chairman, president and CEO of CCMP Capital. Brenneman has been referred to as “The Turn-Around King,” and has previously served as CEO for Quiznos, Burger King and PwC Consulting.
Other speakers include U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady, economist and Edward Jones investment strategist Kate Warne, and Texas Workforce Commission business researcher Mick Normington. Alex Sutton and Tim Welbes, co-presidents of The Woodlands Development Co. / A Division of The Howard Hughes Corp. will also speak.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Grounded in Our Roots: Branching to the Future” and the event is presented by The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership.
The partnership is tasked with recruiting new businesses and supporting existing businesses in job retention and expansion through incentives. Such incentives include freeport tax exemption, job tax credits, state sales and use tax exemptions, tax abatement, tuition waivers, business relocation deductions and the Texas Enterprise Zone. Its board of directors consists of a who’s-who of local business, community and political leaders.
