Katy ISD to continue posting meetings after one-month halt draws outcry
Katy ISD has resumedposting online video of trustees’ monthly work-study meetings onemonth after the board president triggered community criticism by halting the practice without public an- nouncement.
Trustees will approve an official policy for online posting of videos at anupcoming meeting, board president Charles Griffin said at Monday’s workstudy meeting, which was posted on the district’s website.
Inthemeantime, the district will record and post videos of work-study meetings and continue posting video of the board’s other monthly gathering, its regular meeting, he said.
Criticized by residents and fellow trustees for his decision in January to stop posting work-study videos, Griffin argued that the action had led to more discussion of the issue.
He said of his decision, “It was intended to see if our board members truly want transparency.”
The district had posted video of work-study meetings for years before discontinuing the practice last month, with district spokeswoman Denisse Coffman then saying
