Public input changes course of construction
Public input changes course of construction
Following meetings with the public, the City of Piney Point delayed the start of a drainage project set to begin in January and instead began on Feb. 9. This made way for changes to the work, including allowing an impacted section of South Piney Point Road to remain open to two lanes of traffic.
Original plans called for the road to be limited to one lane only during the construction, which is expected to last eight months.
The work will impact and improve drainage to neighborhoods off of Memorial Drive around its intersections with Blalock and South Piney Point Road.
Motorists are asked to be mindful of construction when traveling the area, particularly when driving along narrow, 11-feet-wide lanes in some area and not exceeding the 20-mile-per-hour speed limit.
