Local singer riffs about Waylon

New Caney native Jason Cassidy will perform at Masones Saloon at 10 p.m. on Feb. 20. Tickets start at $13.

Cassidy released “717” last year, an album that contains both sentiment and snark; the opening track “What Waylon Wouldn’t Say” has the local skilled singer comparing himself with the legend and finding a lot of differences. It’s also perhaps a response to his earlier work, “Blame it on Waylon,” a song that brought Cassidy Texas radio play and the attention of critics.
