The 2016 edition — the 29th annual event — is set for Friday, Feb. 26, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Fluor Corporation’s cafeteria, 1 Fluor Daniel Drive in Sugar Land. The crowds are taking advantage of one of the most de- liciously economical deals in the county, with tickets for adults $25, and $5 for children 7 to 12. Children 6 and under eat free.
Dinners include spaghetti, choice of sauce (s,) salad, bread and a beverage
As always the event is more than just a dinner. It’s also a contest among local law enforcement agencies and firefighters for “best sauce” honors. Many wear crazy outfits to complement the clever themes each agency has assigned itself for this year’s sauce, and all attract a lot of attention. Along with “best sauce” and “runners-up,” there is usually an award for best presentation.
Proceeds are used by the Exchange Club all year to benefit local nonprof- its like Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Fort Bend County Women’s Center, Texana Center for Autistic Children, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, Fort Bend Council on Substance Abuse, Crime Stoppers, YMCA, DePelchin Children’s Center, ESCAPE Family Resource Center, and Literacy Council of Fort Bend.
Live and silent auctions, entertainment and a raffle for a chance to wina $5,000 gift certificate from Gallery Furniture or a vacation trip worth $2,500 complete the evening.
Raffle tickets are $100, which include two adult and two child spaghetti dinners.
