Community leaders in Summer Creek and Humble recently received an update on the progress of Generation Park and the grand opening of FMC Technologies 71-acre headquarters.

Bob Sullivan, corporate real estate director for FMC Technologies, said the first 200 employees had begun their move to the new campus in Generation Park.

“We are presently in 11 sites throughout Houston, so we’ve (become) a fragmented company as we grew,” he said. “The vision of Generation Park and this campus was to create an FMC campus where within a 10 year period, we could consolidate all 11 facilities into a single campus that could make us more effective and efficient, support our customers better, and be a great place for our employees to work.”

FMC Technologies purchased 173 acres from McCord Development in late 2012.

In the first phase of the project, FMC Technologies plans to consolidate its western region subsea services operations.

The campus project consists of more than 1 million square feet of office and workshop space and would more than

double the region’s subsea services capacity, one it is ultimately completed.

“We have finished the first phase, and took possession of that on Jan. 20. We are brand new to the site,” Sullivan said.

FMC Technologies, moved the first 200 employees to the site in February, and has a phased plan to shift 200 more this month, followed by 600 in April, 200 in June, and 300 in July.

By the end of this summer, the headquarters component will have 1,500 employees at the new campus.

“We want to be an active part of the community,” Sullivan said.

Another significant part of the Generation Park campus will be the creation of Redemption Square, Generation Park’s corporate lifestyle center.

Redemption Square is located in the corridor district, and is envisioned to be an urban home to companies of all sizes, restaurants and shops, luxury apartments, flagship hotels, and a range of necessary services.

Ian Adler, marketing director for McCord Development and Generation Park, spoke about the changes at Generation Park and the eventual construction of Redemption Square.

“It’s going to be the hub of everything at Generation Park,” Adler said. “Just last week, we broke ground on the first 25 acres.”

Redemption Square, located on 52 acres of land at Generation Park, will be home to the new headquarters for McCord Development.

The first segment, known as Redemption Square One, will be a multi-tenant 85,000 square-foot, five-story, office building featuring more than 15,000-squarefoot of retail space on the ground floor and 70,000 square-feet of office space.

Other amenities planned within Redemption Square include a 240 unit multi-family luxury apartment complex, and a 144-room flagship hotel, both of which will break ground this spring.

“We are under contract for a Courtyard Marriot … That should break ground in the next couple months, with an opening in 2017,” Adler said.

While much of the campus is geared toward business, Adler pointed out that the construction of hike and bike trails around the 20-acre West Lake were completed, and that landscaping would be added soon.
