Crawfish, music are on tap for Old Town Spring

It’s Spring; it’s time for crawfish and live music festivals. The Texas Crawfish & Music Festival in Old Town Spring is scheduled for two weekends April 30-May 7 while the neighborin­g Rails and Tails Mudbug Festival in Tomball is scheduled for one weekend only, April 30-May 1.

Both events feature live music, fresh crawfish and vendors in a street festival environmen­t not too far from each other. Singleday adult admission is $12 at the Texas Crawfish & Music Festival in Old Town Spring, while a six-day pass is $50. A prepaid daily parking pass is available for $10 online for the 30th annual Spring festival. Admission and parking at the fifth annual Tomball festival is free.

This year, headliners at the Texas Crawfish & Music Festival include Thunder Soul on April 29, Reckless Kelly on April 30, Angel Y Khriz on May 1, Kevin Black on May 6, Asleep at the Wheel on May 7 and Space Bear on May 8.

Other artists performing throughout the six-day festival include Bayou Roux, Jody Booth, Jason Cassidy, Selena tribute by AmandaSoli­s,TonyRamey, Paula Nelson, Doug Supernaw and Vanilla Whale. Highlights from the zydeco stage include The Zydeco Dots, Bourbon Street and Weasel and the Zydeco Clan.

Meanwhile, in Tomball, the Rails and Tails Mudbug Festival features headliners The John Evans Band on April 30 and Beatles tribute artists The Fab 5 on May 1. Other performers include Bayou Roux and Guppies From Outer Space. Family band Pelican 212, from the NBA television show “Little Big Shots,” will perform at 11 a.m., 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
