Second-year receiver Jaelen Strong reported for the Texans’ offseason workout determined to show his team that he can be a productive player and be trusted after being arrested for marijuana possession.

Strong was arrested in February in Scottsdale, Ariz. He played at Arizona State.

When asked about possible legal consequences and discipline by commissioner Roger Goodell, he said, “It’s up in the air right now.

“I don’t really know what’s going on. All I can say is I’m here ready to get to work and be great for the 2016 season.”

Strong called the incident “pretty embarrassing.

“Forget about me, but for my family and for the Houston Texans. I’ve talked to my teammates about it. It’s a setback, but I’ve had plenty of setbacks. I’m ready to put it all out on the field. I’m ready to work and to be the best player I can possibly be.”

Johnson wants to keep playing

Former Texans receiver Andre Johnson, who is an unrestricted free agent after being released by Indianapolis in March, wants to play a 14th season.

“That hasn’t changed,” Johnson said while donating items to flooding victims at M.O. Campbell Center. “I’m training right now and just waiting for an opportunity. When that comes, I’ll take advantage of it.” Johnson turns 35 in July. “It’s always different being somewhere different when you’ve been somewhere for 12 seasons,” Johnson said about going from the Texans to the Colts. “Things didn’t work out the way we wanted them to, but it happens. I understand. It’s part of the business.”

Cushing part of USO tour

Inside linebacker Brian Cushing is going to Germany and Kuwait on Friday to participate in a USO tour.

“We’re going to be visiting a number of different (military) bases,” He said. “It was an opportunity that was presented to me, and it’s something I’m passionate about, so I couldn’t turn it down. I’m very excited about the chance to talk to a lot of different soldiers.”

Last season, Cushing was able to play 16 games on a defense that finished third in the NFL.

“I feel great,” he said. “I felt by the middle of the season I started playing like myself again. I look to build upon that. I had an awesome offseason. I’m really excited to be back.”
