CRAIG BADE

1957-2016

-

Craig Bade, born in Louisville on September 2, 1957, to Jean and the late John Bade, Craig was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Rarely seen without a Kentucky hat or shirt, Craig bled Kentucky blue his entire life.

Shortly after graduation, Craig moved to Houston, Texas where he sold oilfield equipment for the Brice Company. While in Houston, Craig met his future wife, Katy Liedtke. On their blind date, the two shared their last first kiss and began a love story lasting over thirty years.

After marrying in 1987, Craig was given the opportunity to move back to his beloved Louisville where he spent the rest of his career as an Independent Sales Representative for Depuy Orthopaedics, later forming the partnership of Snap Orthopaedics. Craig was a well -respected member of the medical community for his entire career, but he will be most remembered for his joy for life, for his ability to see the best in people, for his kind heart, for his devotion as a loyal friend, and most certainly, for his sense of humor. Craig’s goal was to make sure that none of us took our lives too seriously. Many a day he walked into his home after work with a mischievous grin on his face and a hilarious story to tell. Craig measured his success not in dollars or awards, but in the laughter he brought to the lives of his family and many friends. His kind, welcoming nature always preceded him. To know Craig was to be his friend.

In the last two years of his life, Craig inspired us all with his bravery and continued ability to see the beauty in every day. He loved and appreciated life and through example, encouraged us all to count our many blessings.

Craig was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, the Denbarr Club, Louisville Country Club, and a proud founding member of the Thursday Night Group. He loved nothing more than spending time with all of the people he loved.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Katy; his three children of whom he has always been so proud, Maggie, Luke, and Adam; his mother Jean; his sister Lyle(Chip); his brother John(Emme) and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Craig’s team at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center for their exceptional care.

Funeral Service will be 11 AM Friday April 29, 2016, at Second Presbyterian Church 3701 Old Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY with private burial in Cane Station Cemetery. Visitation 4-7 PM Thursday at Pearson’s 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY.
