Presidential politics
Few options
Regarding “Political threat” editorial (Page B13, Sunday), the editorial on Donald Trump basically stated that he was not fit or qualified to be president and, by implication, you were endorsing Hillary Clinton for president. I am no fan of Trump and wish that the Republicans would nominate someone else (which seems highly unlikely). That said, this country cannot afford a continuation of the Obama policies as would happen with Clinton’s (or Bernie’s) election. Keith Arnold, Bryan
Judge not
The media’s unrelenting condemnation of Donald Trump in a biased, unbalanced slant to influence the outcome of the election is unprofessional and irresponsible. To judge Donald Trump in a court of public opinion as a narcissistic demagogue, egomaniac and a reckless dangerous despot before he is given an opportunity to prove himself harbors on alarmist publicity.
There have been presidential candidates elected to office with stellar backgrounds who have resulted in the worst leaders this country has ever produced. Should Clinton be elected, we can expect more of the same. Bill Pond, Humble
Change needed
So the editorial expresses fear of a Trump presidency. How much better off would we be with the other current candidates? Perhaps Bernie Sanders with the siren song to millennials of free education, health care and a livable wage, which has his followers pressing for change regardless of feasibility. They see him as their last chance to throw off the empty promises of the establishment candidate Clinton.
The electorate feels they can’t do worse with a Donald Trump over the presumed candidate Clinton. Ralph Blough, Friendswood
