Couple: Taco Bell workers hit them with oil

- By Will Axford

A woman says employees at a southwest Houston Taco Bell threw hot cooking oil at her and her boyfriend during an altercation on June 1.

Alongside community activist Quanell X and her family, 19-yearold Haronisha Alexander spoke at a news conference in the 3100 block of the South Loop on Wednesday, near the Taco Bell where the alleged incident occurred. The group urged the Houston Police Department to take action against the employees.

Alexander Diamond, Alexander’s cousin, said the altercation began when Alexander tried to throw a bottle into the trash while she and her boyfriend, Johnson Moore, were in the drive-thru lane. An employee demanded Alexander pick up the bottle, but she refused because of the rain.

An argument ensued and the situation escalated when the employee threw a drink at Alexander, according to Diamond.

Diamond said Alexander and Moore attempted to enter the store to speak to another employee, but a cashier intercepted them at the door with a knife.

Quanell X told reporters that cashier stabbed Moore.

“There were chairs thrown and more,” Diamond told the Chronicle via text message. “One of the employees went to the back and brought a pitcher of hot oil and threw it on Moore as he was leaving the store. The investigation is ongoing.
