Man shoots, kills self while holed up in apartment

A man fatally shot himself while he was barricaded inside an apartment in northwest Harris County, authorities said Wednesday.

The man, who has not been identified, fired a weapon about 6 p.m. in an apartment in the 6800 block of Lakeview Haven, Harris County sheriff ’s officials said.

Deputies with the sheriff ’s High Risk Operations Unit surrounded the apartment and attempted to coax him out. The man was dead about two hours later when they finally went inside the apartment.

There were no reports of any other injuries.
