Austin thespians win

Austin High dominated the second annual Jerry Baber Awards, with its spring musical “In the Heights” and fall play “Noises Off” each winning seven prizes in the Tony Awards-style ceremony May 28 at Dulles High. Among individual achievemen­ts in the competitio­n for theater production­s at Fort Bend ISD high schools, Natalie Shipley won best scenery for both Austin shows and shared best lighting honors for “In the Heights” with Max Cortez. Double winners included Nadia Belouchi (best supporting actress) for both Austin shows, and Bush High’s Ciara Anderson (best costumes) for “Shrek” and “You Can’t Take it With You.”
