Joseph William Clarke, II passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016. Joe was born in Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia, November 30, 1928, the son of Joseph W. Clarke and Marion Nass Clarke of Wynnewood, PA. He graduated from Lower Merion High School, Ardmore, PA in 1946 as a member of the National Honor Society and as a varsity letterman with the (LMHS) 1946 Pennsylvan­ia State Champion Gymnastics Team, placing third in the tumbling. He attended Valley Forge Military Academy Junior College prior to his 1947 appointmen­t to West Point.

After graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1951; he attended the Armor School at Fort Knox, followed by a brief assignment at Fort Hood, Texas. While at Fort Hood, he married Sally Frances Spell, daughter of Edward R. Spell and Margaret McGee Spell of Philadelph­ia. They have been married for 64 plus years.

From Fort Hood, Joe served in Germany with the 14th Armored Cavalry at Bad Hersfeld and in 1954 with the 64th Tank Battalion at Fort Benning.

In 1956 he joined Honeywell for a thirty-three year career. Starting as a sales representa­tive for the Industrial Division in Philadelph­ia, he was elected to the President’s Club in 1962, Honeywell’s highest sales award. His career was marked by positions of increased management responsibi­lity within the sales, marketing and service organizati­ons of the Industrial Automation and Control Division.

Joe and Sally retired in Houston in 1992. He was preceded in death by his sons; Frederick James, Edward Spell and Joseph W. III. He is survived by his beloved wife Sally; daughter, Alexis Clarke; son, John Clarke and wife Kim (Bruder); daughter-inlaw, Carol (Whitesell) Clarke; grandsons, Jeffrey Clarke, Chris Clarke and wife, Tenille (Chuppe), and Leigh Clarke and wife Kim (Jaton); greatgrand­children, Calvin, Tilly, and Aubrey; and his sister, Pamela Clarke Zamzow.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 6 – 8 PM at Klein Funeral Home CyFair. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Klein Funeral Home CyFair.
