Hazel Eugenia Huber passed away on August 4, 2016, at home in Houston, Texas, on her 95th birthday. She was born Hazel Eugenia Neidigk in Wilmont, Texas, to Aurine Hoffman Neidigk and Oscar Neidigk.

She was baptized on September 25, 1921, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hufsmith, Texas, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Tomball High School as Salutatori­an in 1938. Immediatel­y after graduation, she was employed as secretary to Judge George L. Charlton in Tomball, Texas. On August 27, 1939, she married Edwin W. Hildebrand­t at Zion Lutheran Church in Hufsmith. This union was blessed with two lovely daughters, Carol and Darlene. In May 1944, Edwin was drafted into the Navy and while on leave after completing basic training, he was tragically killed in a one car accident on August 18, 1944. After his death, Hazel moved to Tomball with her two young daughters, age 18 and 32 months, to live with her mother. Hazel found employment with Superior Oil Company as a secretary. After four years, she was offered a position in Houston with the company.

On August 4, 1948, Hazel moved to Houston, bought a house and became a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She soon met Carl Huber whom she married on June 17, 1951. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Carl Gregory and Bryan Keith. Hazel was church secretary from 1956 – 1959, then resigned to stay home with her children and later resumed that position from 1981 – 1984. During her membership at Our Savior Lutheran Church, she was involved with many organizati­ons – Girl Scouts, Parent Teacher League and Choir. She also served as President of the Cheerful Helpers, Chairperso­n of the Rebecca Guild and Co-Chairperso­n of the Growth Committee of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, White Oak Zone.

Hazel is survived by her children, Carol Hildebrand­t Patrick Conrad and husband Ray Conrad, Darlene Hildebrand­t Rydell, Carl Gregory Huber and Bryan Keith Huber; grandchild­ren, Dr. Kathleen Patrick and husband Dr. Robert Leese, Woody Patrick and wife Holly, Kyle Patrick, Lance Rydell and wife Catharena, Brandt Rydell and wife Julie, Wade and Kelsey Huber, Mallory Huber and Savannah Strutz Cruz and husband John Tyler; great grandchild­ren, Lauren, Marcus, Antonia and Josiah Leese, Logan, Estella and Lily Patrick, Meghan and Tristan Patrick, Katie and Alison Rydell, Matilda, Dagny, Ursula and August Rydell. Hazel was preceded in death by her mother, Aurine Neidigk; her father, Oscar Neidigk; brothers, O.V. and Roland Neidigk; grandson, Jason Rydell; great-grandson, Gunnar Rydell; first husband, Edwin Hildebrand­t; second husband, Carl E. Huber.

The family would like to say a very special “Thank You” to the Mosley Caregivers: Tina, Otelia, Evette, Cindy and Racquel. Memorials may be given to the “Forward Faithfully Fund” of Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5000 W. Tidwell, Houston, Texas 77091. Pall Bearers for the service are Woody Patrick, Kyle Patrick, Lance Rydell, Brandt Rydell, Wade Huber and Pat Gavin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Co. Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5000 W. Tidwell Rd in Houston, Texas, with burial to follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
