Doris Marie (Turner) Freed, 82, passed away at home on August 5, 2016 in the care of herfamily. Doris was born in Bon Wier, Texas to Elsie and Clarence Turner, Sr. As a young girl she moved with her parents, sister, Vivian and brother, Clarence Jr. to the Houston Heights area. She

attended John H. Reagan High School. She went on to marry Eddie Freed, the love of her life for 62 years. Doris and Eddie had three children Shannon,David and LeAnn. Their children grew up in Houston and Cypress, Texas. Doris and Eddie later moved to Bellville, Texas where their

grandchild­ren spent many wonderful summer days, weekends and holidays with their Nana and Poppie. Doris was a dedicated paraprofes­sional for both Cypress Fairbanks ISD and Brenham ISD for many years. But her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and Nana. She made each of her homes lovely and comfortabl­e for her family. She loved cooking, always trying new recipes to

her family’s delight. She enjoyed music, theater and gardening. She enjoyed having lively discussion­s about current events including politics. She had a wry sense of humor appreciate­d by all. She was at all times a gentle and elegant woman in the way of her Southern heritage, with an indomitabl­e strength of spirit witnessed by and shared with her children. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Freed; her parents, Clarence and Elsie Turner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Mary Freed; brother in law and sister in law, George and Billie Freed; and son in law, Gary Wilson. She is survived by her children, Shannon Goedeke; son in law, Alan Goedeke; David Freed and wife Kim; and LeAnn Wilson grandchild­ren Katie Soeder and husband, Elliott; Caroline Freed, Laurie Freed, Zachary Wilson, Hayden Wilson, Jordan Goedeke, Ross Goedeke and wife Cynthia, Grace Wilson and Jenna Freed; great grandsons, Nathan Goedeke, Knox Soeder and Gavin Goedeke; sister Vivian Gowan and husband, Clinton; brother Clarence Turner, Jr. and wife, Maureen; and sister-in-law Margaret Payne and husband Larry; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brief viewing will be held at Brookside Cypress Funeral Home on August 9, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30, followed by a private family graveside service in Bellville, Texas.
