ERIN KATHLEEN O’MALLEY

1966-2016

-

Erin Kathleen O’Malley, age 49, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Erin graduated from Texas Woman’s University with both B.S. and a R.N. degrees. She also earned 2 Masters Degrees (one M.B.A. and one in Health Sciences Services Administration) and an advanced degree in Legal Nurse Consulting. She held hospital nursing care and administration positions at Memorial Hermann, Kindred, Cornerstone Hospitals, and most recently, she was a Practice Manager and Head Research Nurse at Baylor College of Medicine. Her academic strengths were in patient services and quality care assurance.

Although highly educated, Erin had little desire for wealth and fame, but rather, devoted her life to the care of people and rescue of the sick. She was the consummate family woman, with a gregarious and humorous personality, and was loved by all who knew her. She was the most loving and caring daughter that her parents and siblings ever could possibly have had. She is survived by her mother Sally A., and father Bert W. O’Malley; by her sister Becky and husband Robert Clark and their children Sam and Matt; by her sister Sally and husband Doug Abbott and their children David and Lauren and husband Steve Grossman; by her brother Bert Jr and wife Anne and their children Bartley, Annette and Michael – and by her beloved bulldog Chloe.

Although her life-span was much too short, we thank the Good Lord for ‘loaning’ her to us for almost 5 decades. We all enjoyed and loved her dearly and we will miss her greatly, and daily.

Visitation Service will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway (at Eldridge) on Tuesday Morning, August 9, 2016 from 9-10:00AM, with Funeral Services to begin at 10:15 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baylor College of Medicine “ERK- Scholar Award”.
